What is SCIO

SCIO (Sudanese Catholic Information Office) is the Press Office of the Sudanese Catholic Bishops working in the non-government controlled areas of Sudan. It started in April 1995.

It is located in Nairobi, in the premises of Rumbek Diocese, and operates under the direct leadership of Msgr. Caesar Mazzolari, Apostolic Administrator of Rumbek. The other Doceses served by SCIO are Tombura-Yambio, Torit, El obeid and Yei.

The aims of SCIO are:

  • to keep appropriate relationships with the Press and other institutions,
  • to disseminate information on Sudan, with a particular attention to the life of the Church, through the publication of documents and articles,
  • to produce videos and radio programs.








Contact us

The SCIO staff in Nairobi is composed of Fr. R.K. Sesana MCCJ and Mr. Charles Omondi, a professional jounalist. SCIO staff regularly visits Sudan, and is available to prepare articles on specific topics, upon request.

The SUDAN MONTHLY REPORT is distributed by e-mail free of charge to all interested. The report is usually published once a month, more often if needed.
