YOUTH SPEAKS - POSITIVE ENERGY

In Wajibu Volume 16 No. 2 (July-August 2001), a short write up on the Wajibu Action Group was featured with a view to letting all you young people out there know who we are and what we are all about, and getting you to join us. By nature young persons have a lot of energy, energy that can serve to be either destructive or constructive. What "Youth Speaks" hopes to achieve with this new column is to assist you in channeling this energy into something positive. One way of doing this is by giving you information about additional groups or activities that you can join.

In this issue we are featuring a volunteer organization called Ungana. Volunteerism is an integral development tool. More and more people need to acknowledge this and get involved in voluntary work, as expressed by UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan. He said, "Societies need to recognize and promote volunteerism as a valuable activity. They must facilitate the work of volunteers and encourage volunteer action at home and abroad."
