19 April (10:54 p.m.) Dear Sabrina, Thank you for your efforts so much! I have just visited the Peacelink homepage. I saw that you have put me up there on a sort of regular basis. Not really wishing to be in the limelight in a normal, non-war situation, I do not mind it now at all. Because I believe that people in Italy may read these little pieces and get a different picture about things. All I am asking, all that people here are asking is WHY? Is bombing helping achieve peace, is it helping the Albanians in Kosovo, has it spurred their exodus, or, for that matter, the retribution by the Serbian forces? Why are NATO destroying civilian buildings and factories, bridges (Give bridges a chance -- one of the Belgrade slogans), strafing returning refugees, shooting civilian passenger trains, bombing chemical plants? The latest in the horror and lie chain: I heard on CNN the other day that there is a huge mass grave (murdered Albanians, of course) in the village of Izdica in Kosovo -- and, to refute the NATO spokesman, the Serbian TV went over to the village and had a lengthy interview with EACH of its 70 (??!!) Albanians... I do not take for granted the Serbian TV reports, but couldn't have CNN and its NATO spokespeople checked up on the fact, without making up "facts" ad libitum? Remember they also said that there were 100,000 Albanians held hostage at the Pristina Soccer Stadium, according to Hashim Thaqi (?? the KLA chief) whose words were taken for granted by no lesser person than Robin Cook, the British foreign minister. But then the AFP reporters rushed to the Stadium and there was no sign of this whatsoever... Very many rumours started by NATO ended up in the waste-paper bin... but the damage was done nonetheless. Best to you and yours, Djordje
