Tuesday, 27 April: (11:48 p.m.) Dear Sabrina, You are NOT swamping me with mails! You are our little beacon, you and your family, together with all the nice messages we get from all over the world. Some from leftists, some from peaceniks, some from Texans (who seem to hate the Union, still :))... But YOUR emails are special, in a very unusual, serendipitous way (there goes one little word for your translation exercises :)), I know you know it, but what is the Italian equivalent? I am strangely happy. Minutes ago Saska went out to the balcony and cried out in delight: It is raining!! Both Snezana and I ran out to see the wonderful spring rain. Now, you will appreciate this little detail I am sure: the chances that the monstrous metal birds will unload tonight are much slimmer what with the rain and the cloudy skies... Our life now is composed of such details, something one would never really think about, given different circumstances. Ljubitsa is still big, no kittens yet. She has this irresistible urge to eat -- the little ones inside her must be taking out a lot out of her... I told you that she was nosing around, checking up on possible places to hide while giving birth. It is so touching to observe what she's doing. Her eyes are big and inquisitive, as if she was saying "What the heck is happening to me? Can you help me understand what is going on?" And, she's beginning to breathe hard... Let us only hope that the rain keeps on falling, I'd vote for hailstones too! I wish the skies were so low and menacing with snow... I wish there was a snowstorm raging outside... About the book -- yes, why not? Sounds fine to me. What is important is that it be recorded. People must remember. I think it was Bunuel (another one of those I love) who said that hell is nothing else but no remembrance. Love to you and your family & Fabrizio! Djordje
