Saturday, 1 May: (2:32 p.m.) Dear Sabrina, You must have heard from Alexandra about the new arrival. The little white kitten came 24 hours latter after the still-born. We are so happy because amidst all this carnage we witnessed the beginning of a new life. The little one stands for some kind of new beginning and we've been enjoying Ljubitsa's frequent trips to the kitten and back together with her attempts to tell us some kind of story, in her feline language, meowing and cooing. They are keeping up with the 'celestial' campaign. Last night they tried to hit the Main Police Precinct building in Pancevo, the place where Sasa lives. But, apparently, they missed and hit the nearby park, dilapidating the local Hospital. The worst of all was yesterday's bombing of the Murino bridge. Murino is a hamlet in Montenegro, not more than 100 people altogether. Its only fault was being by the bridge. 5 of the Murino population killed in the first raid (5 p.m.) and 2 kids killed in the second raid. I have no idea if Chernomyrdin can do anything as I hear that the USA are admant about their five preset conditions of the ultimatum. Of course, no one cares about the Rambouillet con that was exposed in Paris by the Humanite daily today. The Humanite revealed the 'occupational' terms of the agreement changed at the last moment by M. Albright that were kept secret from the other NATO allies. Who cares? Europe certainly does not care even if it was forced into bombing my country on the basis of something none of its foreign ministers had complete knowledge of!!! What can I say? We are all getting reconciled to our fate. Let Europe watch its own undoing, that's all we can do. On the other hand, we have no adequate words of gratitude for the kindness and support we've been getting from you!! We are delighted to have been able to get in touch with people who are people foremost and Italians only later. We shall never forget you and hopefully, one day, when we get to see each other, we shall try to tell you the whole story... and hear from you yours. Love to you, our friends. Djordje -------------- Saturday, 1 May 1999 (5:32 p.m.) Dear Sabrina, Just a brief piece of shocking news. This is the latest in the already long list of atrocities that NATO committed today, May 1, 1999. I just saw the report. It is true. Please, if you can, spread this around. This is getting unbearable. Love, Djordje ----------------------- At 1:00 pm, a passenger bus (line Pristina-Nis) was directly hit, during a NATO attack on the Luzani bridge (Kosovo), by one missile. The bus was cut into two parts. So far there are 23 killed civilians but the body count is not definite. After that action, NATO attacked the bridge again and hit the rescue team vehicle.
