Phelps, Eric de Rosny, Kizito Renato Sesana, John Skinnader, Carl Starkloff, Tharcisse Tshibangu, and many other Professors, Pastors and Researchers participated in the SIST research Congress on Mission.

The Six-day Research Congress came to the conclusion that: Mission in Africa and the African Diaspora must be focused on the nurturing, sustaining and development of the life of African peoples in all its dimensions.

Prophetic Mission as Key to Social Justice: That we implement the church's prophetic mission by genuine representation of Africa in places where political and economic decisions are made and implemented; by playing a role of advocacy in identifying injustices and pressing for their redress; that the church be arbiter and promoter of justice and fundamental human values, and be formed into a prophetic community which overcomes violence by incarnating the ethic of non-violence learned from Christ; that the missionary be seen as “prophetic stranger” who works to promote human dignity in opposition to a dominant culture of injustice.
